The department of pharmacoeconomics and pharmaceutical administration has started its activity in the Faculty of Pharmacy of Tehran University of Medical Sciences since the summer of 2007. This group was formed with the aim of explaining the principles of drug economics, policy making and management in the pharmaceutical system and pharmaceutical companies. The mission statement of this group has been prepared with this approach and has been approved by the educational-research council of the group. The PhD in Economics and Pharmaceutical Management, which is the highest level of education in this field, started in 1387 with the admission of 5 students and includes It is a coordinated set of educational-research and research activities that deals with the training of efficient human resources at the PhD level. The group currently has 6 faculty members. It has more than 40 PhD graduates and more than 20 students studying.

The department of drug economics and management has been formed with the aim of applying the sciences of economics and management in the processes of pharmaceutical education and improving the knowledge and skills of pharmacy graduates in the fields of management and economics and providing the basis for the application of the aforementioned sciences in research, education, policymaking and managerial processes in various fields of pharmaceutical sciences. . With active participation in all educational, research and executive matters of the faculty, this group will try to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of graduates by training students in professional doctorate and specialized courses as well as holding short-term cross-sectional and interdisciplinary courses. A- Short and medium term
 
1- Accepting responsibility for mathematics, management and economics courses, pharmaceutical laws and regulations based on the professional doctorate training program
 
2- Revising the content and teaching method of the mentioned courses and making the necessary corrections according to the goals of forming the group
 
3- Improving the awareness of the teaching and research staff of the faculty as well as students with the goals of the group
 
4- Attracting the participation and cooperation of professors, assistants and students in related educational and research fields
 
5- Attracting the participation and cooperation of faculties related to the goals of the group, such as health and medicine faculties within Tehran University of Medical Sciences and management and economics faculties of other universities.
 
6- Identifying and attracting the cooperation of active professors and researchers in related fields and establishing continuous and effective communication with them
 
7- Establishing an effective and efficient organizational structure within the group in a way that responds to the group's organizational goals
 
8- Modifying the courses and program of the specialized course of the department of drug economics and management and organizing the educational and research activities of the specialized course.
 
B- Long-term goals:
 
1- Attaining a share of at least 15% of the faculty's research budgets in the first 3 years of the group's activity
 
2- Publication of a specialized publication in the field of management and economics until the end of 2018
 
3- Contextualizing the development of the group's activities in related fields such as pharmacoepidemiology, pharmaceutical marketing and patents, and accepting students in at least two related fields until the end of 2018
 
4- Developing a culture of idea commercialization in graduates and establishing an efficient structure in the group as a model for graduates
 
5- Presence and effective participation in the social, economic and political development programs of the country in the fields related to medicine
 
6- Facilitating communication between domestic and foreign industries and national and international organizations related to medicine through the training of efficient human resources.
